Change delivery mode of your training plan
A training plan is a formal, working document which specifies:
- how, when and where training will be delivered
- what assessment methods will be used.
But a training plan is also flexible, so it can be changed to suit your learning preferences.
Lack of progress
If you are falling behind in your training, talk to your employer and training organisation.
They may help you by:
- checking you have the appropriate learning support in place
- changing the type or level of your qualification
- changing the delivery mode of your training plan.
Change of delivery mode
It may be that a different way of learning would better suit your learning style or life circumstances.
You can ask your employer to change the learning format, or 'delivery mode' of your training. For example, you may be better suited to one of the following:
- the training organisation coming to your workplace to train you
- going to the training organisation and training in a classroom with other students
- or
- doing your training online and talking to the training organisation over the phone.
If your training organisation doesn't offer the delivery mode that helps, you and your employer can change to another training organisation.
How we can assist
If you think that changing the delivery mode will help you get back on track, but your employer or training organisation don't agree, you can contact us for assistance.
Step 1
Contact Apprenticeships Info or use Form ATF-051.
Before we can assist, we will need:
- your reasons for wanting to change the delivery mode
- how the change will help you get back on track with your training
- your preferred new delivery mode (e.g. classroom training)
- a copy of your training plan if you have it
- your parent's or guardian's signature if you are using Form ATF-051 and you are under 18 and still under their care.
Step 2
We will arrange to meet with you, your employer and your training organisation and attempt to negotiate a way to get you back on track.
If we can't negotiate a solution, but we think a change of delivery mode is necessary for you to progress, we will start the process to change the delivery mode.
Step 3
If we decide to change the delivery mode of your training plan, we will decide:
- what the changes will be
- when the change will occur (at least 14 days after the decision is made).
If it means that you and your employer have to change training organisations, we will help you do that.
